Deception Means

Stealth
Level 1 - Disguise - Take the Agility Measure. On a Miss, your disguise fails and you know it. On a Fumble, your disguise fails, but you think it succeeds. On a Hit, you adjust your physical appearance by standing more erect or stooping, shifting your gait or adding a limp, modulating the pitch or tone or accent of your voice. You remain recognizably like a person, but whatever natural shapes and vocal tones appear in human culture, you can mimic them satisfactorily enough most observers would accept you as you appear. On a Complication, or if creatures are keeping watch or actively searching or directly interact with you, they may take the Insight Measure. On a Hit, they see through your disguise.

Level 3 - Hide (requires Disguise) - You must start behind cover or concealment in order to use this Means. Take the Agility Measure. On a Miss, you are spotted. On a Fumble, you think you are hidden, but you are spotted. On a Hit, you fade far enough into shadows or behind objects that casual observers will not notice your presence. On a Complication or if creatures are keeping watch or actively searching, they may take the Insight Measure. On a Hit, you are spotted.

Level 6 - Shadow Step (requires Hide) - When you are hiding and wish to Reposition, take the Agility Measure. On a Miss, you are spotted. On a Fumble, you think you are hidden, but you are spotted. On a Hit, you may use 2 Actions to Reposition Close, as though Disengaging, without being spotted. Your careful precise use of shadows and cover means you blend in to your surroundings well enough that casual observers will not notice your presence even when you move slowly between cover or concealment. Any other Action or a Miss will announce your presence. On a Complication or if creatures are keeping watch or actively searching, they may take the Insight Measure. On a Hit, you are spotted.

Misdirection
Level 1 - Sleight of Hand - Take the Agility Measure. On a Fumble, your Sleight of Hand fails, but you think it was successful. On a Hit, target creature focuses their attention to look in a direction of your choosing. Target is knocked Off-Balance and any Insight Measures they would take are narrowed by 1 until the start of your next turn.

Level 3 - Pickpocket (requires Sleight of Hand) - Choose Off-Balance target within Melee Range. Take the Agility Measure. On a Fumble, your pickpocket attempt fails and you are caught red-handed. On a Hit, you may remove from or deposit into the target's pockets one small item (such as a dagger, ring, letter, necklace, or coin purse) without being noticed. On a Complication, or if a creature within Melee Range is keeping watch or actively searching, target may take the Insight Measure. On a Hit, target spots your attempt.

Level 3 - Bluff (requires Sleight of Hand) - Take the Intellect Measure. On a Fumble, you spout nonsense and think the target believes you when they do not. On a Hit, target is Exposed and any Intellect, Insight, or Allure Measures they would take are narrowed by 1 until the start of your next turn. On a Complication, target may take the Insight Measure. On a Hit, target sees through your Bluff.

Level 6 – Grand Misdirection (requires Pickpocket and Bluff) - When you successfully use Sleight of Hand or Bluff against a target, you may immediately take a free action to Pickpocket that same target. In addition, target is Exposed and cannot take any Intellect, Insight, or Allure Measures against you until the start of your next turn.
